Club Information

Our Facility

The 8 Sheets
The AMCC offers curlers eight sheets of ice with plenty of curl.

The Bar & Lounge
Our Bar offers a comfortable atmosphere to hoist a beverage and enjoy the company of friends while talking about the game. Our bartenders have brought many years experience over with them from the now defunct CFB curling club, and have made our lounge a better place. Aside from the usual assortment of beverages, our club offers many snacks, chips, home made pickled eggs and sausages, and we now feature nachos and cheese. Curlers who visit our club often remark that the lounge at the Assiniboine Memorial is the most comfortable drinking atmosphere they have encountered at a curling club.

The Cafeteria
Curlers can chose from a wide selection of menu items. Come out and enjoy supper before or after the game. Our Friday dinners are especially are known to draw huge crowds.

Club Name and Logo

Club History

The club was established in 1929 by a group of First World War veterans living in Assiniboia, who approached the municipality for a grant to start a curling club. The club was built on the east side of Banting Street behind the museum building across from Superstore. The first directors were Frank Ness, Tom Corbett, H. Hunt, D. Ballantyne and R.R. Kirby.

The club was established as a war memorial hence the name, Assiniboine Memorial.

Quote from the 50th anniversary program:

“Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club carries the pride of honouring these men and all others who fought for freedom in World War I and II. We are mindful of the task we have undertaken and endeavor to carry out our curling in a friendly and sportsmanlike manner. We are proud of them; we hope they would have been proud of us.”

Colours

Club colours were originally set as green and gold, but Wildewood had already selected those colours, so they changed them to White and Purple. In 1973 the club switched to gold with purple trim.

Current Logo

A contest was held to design the logo. It was sent to all the local schools and a design was selected. It is a man wearing a Scottish tam.
