The AMCC Board of Directors was extremely pleased to recognize the following noteworthy occurrences during the 18 Oct Board meeting:
MLA Jim Rondeau presents the Club President and Manager with a $12,000 cheque from the Community Places Program in support of the dehumidifier project. MLA Rondeau continues to be a very strong supporter of the AMCC.
Wheelchair curlers Melissa Lecuyer, Dennis Thiessen, and Mark Wherret (missing Jamie Anseeuw and coach Tom Wherret) present the club with the National Championship banner emblematic of their significant achievement at the 2014 Championship held in Quebec. We are very proud of these athletes and extremely pleased that they continue to curl out of the AMCC.
Club President Horst Wuerfel presents Rob Swan," Curling Across the Nation", with a small donation from the club in support of his quest to curl 100 games in a 100 curling clubs in an effort to raise funds for his home club in Harvey Station, New Brunswick. Thanks to Eileen Cuthbert and the Crestview Mixed League for ensuring that Rob was able to curl a game at the AMCC. Rob was truly impressed by our great facility, superb ice and wonderful hospitality.
As we are getting ready for the 2014/15 curling season, appreciation is expressed to the volunteers that helped in getting the lounge and lower lobby ready. On Wed Sep 17th the Board moved all furniture off the carpet so it could be cleaned the next day. Then on Sat Sep 20th, a work party, headed up by Al Seredynski & Dorothy Hollins, scrubbed table tops and bases, washed walls and put back the furniture.
A big thanks to Terry Brownlee and the following senior's he contacted to help: Terry Turnbull, Al Kohli, Terry Smith, Ralph Davison, Marty Pelletier.
Thanks again. Such contribution to the club is much appreciated.
Missed Registration Night. Don't despair - initial returns confirm openings in some Leagues. If interested in curling out of our great facility please contact me and I will forward your info to the applicable League Convenor. Ice installation is on schedule for an end Sep start date, recent addition of a dehumidifier and chiller for sheets 1-4 should ensure a very enjoyable curling experience.
AMCC - "Home of Champions, MCT Championships, Junior Provincials, Provincial/National Sticks as well as traditional club curling and annual spiels" offers great ice and a very sociable atmosphere.
